New Build Rendering in Pondwell, Isle of Wight

Wright Render rendered a contemporary new-build development at Pondwell: multi-level homes with flat roofs, glass balustrades, timber cladding and natural stone. The render had to look sharp beside premium materials, and it does.

Project

Rendering a modern development at Pondwell

Contemporary homes like these are unforgiving. Flat roofs, tall glazing and mixed materials mean there is nowhere for poor render to hide: every arris, reveal and junction is in plain view.

Will and the team worked across the development from the bare blockwork stage, through to the finished white and grey elevations seen alongside the timber cladding and stone chimney features.

The challengeClean lines and tidy junctions where render meets timber, stone and glazing.
The methodBeads at corners and reveals, render applied with a pump on site.
The standardInstalled to manufacturer's specification, with product and installation guarantees.

How it was done

Step by step

  1. Prepare the blockwork. Corner and reveal beads fitted, openings protected, the surface checked before any render went on.
  2. Apply by machine. A render pump was set up on site so large elevations could be applied consistently.
  3. Finish the details. Clean, straight lines at flat-roof edges, window reveals and where render meets timber and stone.
  4. Hand over. A uniform finished elevation, installed to the manufacturer's specification with guarantees.

Common questions

Rendering in Pondwell: your questions

Do you render new builds on the Isle of Wight?

Yes. Wright Render renders new builds across the Island, from bare blockwork or insulation boards through to the finished elevation. Will works to whichever system the project specifies, including K Rend, Baumit, PRB and Fassa Bortolo, and can advise if the specification is still open.

Can render sit alongside timber cladding and stone?

Yes, and it is a very popular modern look. The key is the junction: the right bead, a proper allowance for movement and a drip so water cannot track behind the render. Those details are what keep the edges crisp and the render intact for years.

Is new build render guaranteed?

Yes. When a system is installed to the manufacturer's specification it carries product and installation guarantees, from the manufacturer and from Wright Render. Skipping steps on preparation or coats is what invalidates a guarantee, so none are skipped.
